Barakah Marine Service Ltd. (“BMSL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates www.bmsl.com.bd (the “Site”) and provides marine manpower supply and crew manning services. 1.1 Information You Provide Directly

Crew Registration and Document Upload

If you register as a seafarer or upload documents to us, we collect:

• Full name, date of birth, nationality
• Passport number and CDC (Continuous Discharge Certificate) number
• Rank applied for, sailing experience, current location, availability date, expected salary
• Email address and mobile number
• Uploaded documents, which may include: your CV/resume, passport, CDC,
  STCW certificates, medical fitness certificate, seaman’s book, visa,educational and experience certificates, and any other supporting documents you choose to submit

Contact and Inquiry Forms

If you contact us or submit a crewing requirement as a ship owner or ship management company, we collect your name, company name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message or requirement.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to updates, we collect your email address.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Like most websites, our server may automatically log standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring site) for security and site-performance purposes. We do not use this information to identify you personally.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Evaluate your suitability for crew positions and match you with ship owners, ship management companies, and crewing agencies seeking seafarers Verify your identity, certificates, and sea service as part of our recruitment and screening process
• Communicate with you about your application, our services, or your inquiry
• Respond to crewing requirements submitted by ship owners and ship management companies
• Send you vacancy updates and maritime industry news, if you have subscribed
• Maintain records required for compliance with maritime regulations
  (including STCW and MLC 2006-related documentation requirements)

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. How We Share Your Information

Because our business is connecting seafarers with employers, some sharing of information is inherent to the service:

• With ship owners, ship management companies, and crewing agencies:
  When you apply for or are considered for a position, relevant parts of your profile and documents are shared with the prospective employer or their representatives as part of the recruitment and verification process.
• With verification bodies:
  Certificates and sea service records may be verified with the issuing training institutes, flag state authorities, or previous employers.
• With service providers:
  We may use third-party services that process data on our behalf (for example, email delivery services), bound by confidentiality obligations.
• As required by law:
  We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

We do not share your documents with unrelated third parties for marketing or any purpose unrelated to crew placement without your consent.

4. How We Protect Your Information

We understand that documents such as your passport, CDC, and medical certificate are highly sensitive. Uploaded documents are:

•  Stored in a restricted, non-public location on our server that is not part of our public media library and cannot be browsed or accessed via a direct web link
• Accessible only to authorized BMSL personnel who are logged into our administrative system and require the information for recruitment purposes
• Deleted from our server if the corresponding application or submission record is permanently removed

While we take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as reasonably necessary to consider you for current and future crewing opportunities, to comply with our legal and record-keeping obligations, and to resolve disputes. If you would like your information removed sooner, see Section 7 below.

Our Site may use cookies set by WordPress (the software that powers this Site) for basic functionality. If we add analytics or advertising tools in the future, this policy will be updated to describe them and any choices available to you.
